Belonging

Picture
Belonging. It happens when you build trust with yourSELF. You can't belong to anyone anywhere without being true to you. What parts of yourself do you hide? Shy away from? Cover up? Quiet? Why? Is there really any good reason? If we aren't someone else's cup of tea, do they have to drink from our cup? No. We have to live our lives the best way possible because this cup is ours to own forever.

Our inner voice is the best guide to knowing ourselves- it is that essence that makes our bodies act and our words speak- our hands create. The worlds captured within our minds and hearts are far deeper and more expansive than our outward appearances. Even our "flaws" are our teachers- why do we shun them? One day, it is the essence of us that our loved ones will miss and remember- not the physical body.

One part of me that I pushed down for a long time is my intense intuition. As a little girl, I experienced some frightening moments- life or death moments that occurred and my intuition alerted- even made me sick and black out- to protect me from them. In high school and college, I was very curious about this inner knowing and found I was able to tap into a wisdom that scared my friends and myself. While I wanted to enjoy this intuition, I was very afraid when events showed me how real it could be. It was awesome until it was scary. Having grown up Roman Catholic, I also thought- oh no! This means I'm a witch and every connotation of that word was damning to me at the time. I stuffed it all down and refused to think about it for a long time.

Years passed and I couldn't figure out why I didn't feel more ME. When I began to cultivate more mindfulness, I was reminded of my intuition. While tentative at first, I find that man has created some beautiful ways to help us tap into the voice inside of us- to guide us. Some use the bible to connect to it. Some walk in nature. Some pray to deities like Gahnesh, one I love as the remover of obstacles. Others use tarot cards or gems or music or sunrise to connect to their hearts... yoga, you bet. Any way of connecting with your inner knowing makes you more grounded in your core. I just happen to be fascinated with every religion, every way of knowing. I practice many different forms.

This morning, my Good Tarot told reassured me that it is ok to let go of the past, to take comfort in my inner wisdom and that I will be supported by the universe to find success. So, here. I let go of my need to hide my spirituality.
